Meet Derrick
Derrick Kunz was born and raised in Rockford, Illinois. He attended Christian Life School and later Rock Valley College. In 2011, Derrick married Amanda Feery, who works for Rockford Public Schools District 205. Together, they are raising their two daughters in the community Derrick has always called home.
Derrick began his career in the food service industry before joining Verizon Wireless in 2000, where he steadily advanced through the company. In 2009, he joined Cricket Wireless and was responsible for bringing the brand to Rockford. Over the course of his career with Cricket, Derrick helped oversee the development of more than 400 stores across four states.
After more than 15 years in the wireless industry, Derrick shifted his professional focus to real estate in July 2024. His involvement in real estate began in 2017 through his own investment ventures and grew significantly over the years.
Derrick has also remained active in the Rockford community. He served as Vice President of the Northwest Community Center Board and currently serves on the Winnebago County Board of Health, where he chairs the Policy Committee.
His experience in business, real estate and community service has given Derrick a firsthand perspective on both the opportunities Rockford has to offer and the challenges facing the people who live and work here. That experience ultimately led him to become more actively involved in shaping Rockford's future.
